"This is Benjamin Ingrosso, part two" picks up where the first part left off – Benjamin Ingrosso and his team still have their sights set on making him an international star. Viewers get to follow him on his first European tour.
How was it to go from playing on Sweden's biggest stages to starting from scratch again with smaller club gigs in Europe? Educational, according to Ingrosso:
The European tour was a huge lesson. I developed incredibly much and learned to handle when things go wrong. The tour was very rock 'n' roll, very "fuck it, let's just do it", he says.
Difficult balance
The whole idea of being filmed on and behind the scenes for several years is about showing how an artist has it behind closed doors, with high demands, dreams, and social media.
It's been hard to find a balance between how revealing you can be and my integrity in music. When I make a post on Tiktok, for example, suddenly my entire apartment is visible because I'm filming at home. While my romantic relationships you only find in my music, says Ingrosso.
When Ingrosso's best friends Jacob Rangnitt and Oskar Fagerström came up with the proposal to make the documentary, it was important for him that there would be something to say, and that what is said must be genuine, so that fans can identify with it.
I hopefully have fans who see me as a role model. Then I want to be able to show that I'm not always that guy with self-confidence that they have on a poster at home, that I'm also just like everyone else, says Ingrosso and continues:
But the red thread throughout the series is also about dreams. About daring to take the leap and see if the dream can come true.
USA awaits
In February, one of Ingrosso's dreams comes true: he's going on tour in the USA. It will be ten shows, all based on the newly released album "Pink velvet theatre".
The expectations are "nicer" than before the European tour, according to Ingrosso:
Just getting to play at places in the USA is huge, but I have no idea how it's sold or what the crowd will be like. It's not Madison Square Garden, but it's a step on the way. Eight years ago, I played on Kungsholmen with like three people in the audience, and last summer we sold out the Stadium. "You gotta start somewhere".
