For the second month in a row, inflation is growing in the euro countries – now with 2.3 percent on an annual basis in November. This is shown by fresh figures from Eurostat.
In October, inflation was 2 percent, compared to 1.7 percent in September.
The increase is occurring despite a overall decline in energy prices – although the decrease was significantly smaller in November (- 1.9 percent) than in October (- 4.6).
The highest inflation in November was in Belgium at 5 percent. Heavyweight countries such as Germany and Spain landed at 2.4 percent, compared to 1.7 percent in France and 1.6 percent in Italy.
