Two military bases in the Israeli-annexed area of the Golan Heights have been attacked with rocket artillery by the Lebanese Shia militia Hizbollah, according to the Hamas-allied movement.
According to Israel's military, around 15 projectiles were fired, but caused no major damage.
The attacks are seen as a response to deadly Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon. According to Lebanese state media, two civilians were killed in their homes in a town near the border with Israel.
The past few days have seen the fighting escalate. On Friday, Israel attacked several towns in southern Lebanon, resulting in the death of a woman, a Hizbollah-affiliated rescue worker, and two fighting militiamen. Hizbollah responded with several attacks on military targets, one of which shot down a larger Israeli drone.
Over the past eight months, which have seen the Gaza War, nearly daily battles have taken place along the border. In Lebanon, at least 451 people have been killed, including at least 80 civilians, according to the news agency AFP's compilation. In Israel, at least 14 soldiers and 11 civilians have been killed, according to the military.
