The number of burglaries has decreased significantly in recent years. According to a new report from the Crime Prevention Council (Brå), around 10,000 burglaries were reported to the police last year – a halving compared to 2017.
At the same time, only four per cent of reported crimes are solved by the police. Stockholm is the worst affected, where many burglaries occur and the clearance rate is the lowest in the country.
According to Brå, the police need to take measures to solve more crimes. This includes, among other things, better coordination and more police interrogations.
"When crimes are investigated individually at the local level, organized crime is favored. To really get to the bottom of burglaries linked to criminal networks, the police need to coordinate better," says Emma Patel, project manager at Brå in a press release.
