The somewhat unstable weather is enticing Swedes to travel abroad. Bookings for trips abroad are going full speed – and some have already started looking forward to the winter season.

Despite extreme heat and heat warnings in southern Europe, more and more people are booking trips abroad.

For the travel organizer Apollo, the number of bookings increased by about 15 percent in June compared to the same period last year. In recent weeks, they have also noticed an increased interest in last-minute trips.

We see a high pressure on bookings right now, says Martina Krantz, press officer at Apollo.

For the first half of July, the increase is even greater.

Probably largely due to the unstable weather, although it was the same last summer, we see an even greater increase in July than last summer, about 20 percent, she continues.

Even competitor Ving is noticing the same trend. Last week, the number of bookings increased by 12 percent compared to the corresponding week last summer.

Many want to get away directly this week or at the beginning of next, says Claes Pellvik, communications manager at Ving.

The fluctuating weather in several parts of the country has also made some people start looking at where their vacation will take them later this year.

The weather is causing us to sell a bit more for the coming winter. The Canary Islands and Thailand have had an upswing in the last few weeks, says Claes Pellvik.

For those who want to get away and haven't booked anything, it's not too late yet.

If you're a bit flexible, there are definitely trips left, says Martina Krantz.
