Two weeks before the competition season, Calle Halfvarsson got problems with his back, which after examination turned out to be a herniated disk. It has bothered him all winter and now he is ready for a quick operation.
If I decide to do another season, which I hope I do, it will probably be an operation after the season. A decision that I will then make in consultation with the doctors. I will also listen to Jens Burman. He has had a similar operation and became well, says Halfvarsson.
He is warning that the operation may take place directly after the World Championship in Trondheim, which starts in a week and a half, if the problem continues during the championship.
Then it's just as good to do it directly.
He talks about the difficulties of getting his back to cope with hard skiing training and the role of being a father to two small children. Therefore, he sees the World Championship preparation camp in Bruksvallarna as a relief:
I think my back will feel good about getting away to Bruksvallarna before the World Championship. Then I won't have to lift so many children for a few weeks.
