The legendary gymnast Akinori Nakayama, 82, has passed away due to cancer.
The Japanese won ten OS medals and six OS golds during his career, which were won in 1968 in Mexico and 1972 in Munich.
He also gave his name to a swing technique in the rings, "The Nakayama", which is still used today by elite gymnasts.
"We want to express our deepest condolences", writes the Japanese Gymnastics Federation.
Nakayama also received twelve VM medals during his career, including seven golds.
