Ferry Svan has, among other things, won the Junior World Championship in timber sports and recently participated in the World Championship. He recently appeared with his timber sports in the Melodifestivalen interlude. But now, a new adventure awaits – in TV4's "Let's dance". He had been asked to participate before, but with the current format where the competitions take place in different qualifiers, he can go home to Dalarna between training sessions. That made it possible to say yes.
I've almost never tried moving to music, so it's a real challenge, he says.
What kind of music do you usually listen to?
That's the next problem, I don't really listen, I don't have that much interest in it.
At first, Ferry Svan wondered if he had bitten off more than he could chew. His dad, Gunde Svan, who was on the show in 2018, explained that it would be tough in the beginning. Physically, it's no problem for Ferry Svan.
It's more mental, there's a lot to take in. If you practice too much or for too long, you won't even remember left and right, he says.
Another challenge is that you need some acting talent.
You have to get into some kind of character, and it's a bit special with a dance partner you've just met, he says.
Actually, Ferry Svan doesn't like being bad at anything – and being bad all the time is a big step. But he's putting his heart and soul into dance training.
And now it's started to be fun, because you're not just doing everything wrong.
Ferry Svan drove a forest machine for a year after high school and then started focusing on timber sports full-time. In 2017, he participated in the Junior World Championship in timber sports, where he took gold. In the 2019 World Championship, he placed seventh and set a Nordic record.
The already announced celebrities for the program are David Lindgren, Malin Stenbäck, Cecilia Frode, Tommy Myllymäki, Isa Östling, Rickard Olsson, Theo Haraldsson, Manoel "Junior" Marques Lerin, Mini Andén, Carolina Klüft, and Arantxa Álvarez.
"Let's dance" makes a comeback on March 15 after being on hiatus for a year. The format has changed, including the introduction of new, modern dances. Even parts of the jury are new. Chairman Tony Irving is joined by artist Eric Saade and dancer Taya Shawki.
The new hosts are Johanna Nordström and Pär Lernström.
