Danish Alvina Shipping is taking over the ferry traffic between Gotland and the mainland between 2027 and 2035. However, for customers, the differences will be small, as it will be the same vessels as today.

Alvina Shipping is a subcontractor to Destination Gotland, which will thus continue to operate the traffic, with today's Swedish-flagged vessels and with Swedish personnel.

"The traffic between Gotland and the mainland is part of our identity, and we are extremely pleased and proud to have won renewed confidence from the Transport Administration", writes Håkan Johansson, CEO of the Gotland-based company, which is the parent company of Destination Gotland, in a press release.

According to the Transport Administration's Director-General Roberto Maiorana, Alvina Shipping meets the requirements set out in the procurement, which has been ongoing since August 2023 and has been open to actors across the entire EU. Among the requirements are climate aspects with reduced carbon dioxide emissions and continued price cap for Gotlanders.
