The Frenchman Francois Letexier, 35, has been appointed as the main referee in Sunday's European Championship final between Spain and England at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, announces the European Football Association (Uefa).
It is an experienced referee who now gets the prestigious assignment. Francois Letexier, who began refereeing international football in 2017, has refereed 65 matches under Uefa's auspices before the European Championship finals.
Letexier started the European Championship by being the fourth referee in the opening match between Germany and Scotland. Then he was the main referee in the matches Spain–Georgia, Denmark–Serbia, and Croatia–Albania.
It went so well that he now gets the assignment to referee the final.
