Four new cases of bird flu in humans are reported in the USA. The total number of infected humans is now eight.
The four infected persons work at the same poultry farm, according to the American infectious disease control authority Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A fifth case is also suspected, but the analysis is not yet clear.
The infectious disease control authority believes that the risk of spread among humans in the USA is still low and states that those infected have "flu-like symptoms".
Earlier this year, an outbreak of bird flu was reported among cattle, which led to a person in Texas being infected.
In Europe, the occurrence of bird flu is lower than in several years, according to a report by the European Food Safety Authority Efsa.
