A former employee of the e-commerce giant Amazon vented on Linkedin about the uninspiring work environment at the company. She described it as characterized by "meaningless meetings and mediocre middle managers". It only took a few days before the post went viral, and it has now been shared by tens of thousands.
Many of the comments come from Amazon employees around the world, who agree with the criticism of the increasing bureaucracy and the new CEO Andy Jassy, who, among other things, has introduced mandatory office attendance.
"I'm just waiting for a dress code. Hide the tattoos!", writes an employee.
Jassy took office in the summer of 2021, and his time as CEO has been marked by large layoffs and cost cuts. Andy Jassy himself has also identified the poor work environment. In a memo to employees in September, he promised, among other things, to "reduce the management layers that slowed down the company".
