15 inflatable football halls have collapsed in recent years, according to a new report commissioned by the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning, as reported by P4 Jämtland.
The main reason is the weight of snow, which has caused the halls to collapse. This has occurred, among other places, in Ljusdal and Piteå, and most recently in Karlstad in January this year. The so-called overpressure halls are supported by a constant overpressure from fans without load-bearing pillars or beams.
The National Board of Housing, Building and Planning is now investigating whether the building regulations need to be changed. Tomas Karlsson, an expert on construction regulations at the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning, however, does not believe that football halls will be banned.
We are absolutely not against development in any way, we just want everyone to feel safe in these buildings, he says to the radio channel.
