On May 5, Blackstenius scored both of Arsenal's goals in the 2-1 win over Manchester City. Then an injury put a stop to the rest of the football season, and when autumn came, the goal form was gone.
That's why it was so longed for when she could score 3-0 against Luxembourg in the 81st minute of Friday's European Championship playoff match. The first goal in almost six months means a lot for someone who is supposed to be Sweden's - and Arsenal's - spearhead.
Yes, it's my first goal since I came back from injury. And I'm aware that I've had many opportunities before, even in Arsenal. It's been close but not enough to score. So I'll try to take this feeling with me, says Stina Blackstenius.
Two disallowed goals
It looked like it was going to go wrong. Blackstenius missed some opportunities where she could have scored, but she also had the margins against her.
Earlier in the match, she also found the net twice - but both goals were disallowed for offside.
It's clear that it can be frustrating when you know it's about small margins. But it's about having those margins on your side. And not being on the wrong side, simply, says Blackstenius.
"Know what it can mean"
One who is also delighted by the goal is Sweden's national team captain Peter Gerhardsson. He knows how important it can be for a striker to just break a goal drought.
It's naturally wonderful. I know what it can mean to score such a goal. It doesn't matter how it looks, just that you score. It was very pleasing, says Gerhardsson.
