E-commerce continued to move forward strongly in June, with sales of 14.6 billion kronor, representing a 17 percent increase compared to the same month last year, according to the Swedish Trade E-commerce Indicator.
"Interest in e-commerce remains extremely high. The proportion of people making their purchases online has been at levels exceeding what we saw during the pandemic over the past few months," says Per Ljungberg, Innovation Manager at Swedish Trade, in a press release.
It went worse in July, with sales of 11.8 billion kronor – a decrease of one percent compared to July 2023. According to Per Ljungberg, it's no surprise.
"We know that households' economies are strained due to continued high interest rates."
