It was around 22:00 on Thursday that the police were alerted about an explosion in a multi-family house in Farsta. The explosive charge detonated inside the stairwell and was unusually powerful, according to the police for Aftonbladet.

The apartment door was blown away and there is damage on five floors, says police spokesperson Ola Österling to the newspaper.

One person was taken to hospital by ambulance and another for control. Both are adult individuals. One of them is believed to have serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The two were likely in the same apartment.

That's my understanding, says police spokesperson Mats Eriksson to TT on Friday morning.

The incident is being investigated as attempted murder, aggravated general destruction, and violation of the law on flammable and explosive goods.

Several apartments are damaged, but despite the powerful detonation, there is no risk of collapse. Bomb technicians have examined the house and the site.

Witnesses have seen a person, it was still fairly early in the evening. We have plenty of witness statements, but I don't know what they've given, says Mats Eriksson.

The same building was subjected to an explosion on December 3 last year, writes Aftonbladet.
