The former English national team captain Sven-Göran "Svennis" Eriksson reveals what happened when his former team captain David Beckham came to visit him in Värmland at the beginning of June.
He brought six litres of wine with dates that were important to me, says Eriksson to P4 Värmland.
It's about wine from 1948 – the year Eriksson was born, as well as 1982, when he won the Uefa Cup with IFK Göteborg, and 2000 when he won the Italian league with Lazio. Much of the conversation revolved around football.
(It was) very pleasant. He is genuine. He could be a diva. But he is the opposite.
Beckham flew to Karlstad airport to visit the cancer-stricken Sven-Göran Eriksson for a day.
He ate pickled herring and potatoes and elk meat, the day before he sent a chef who prepared the food, says Eriksson to the radio with a laugh.
"Svennis" has been on a big farewell tour around the football world since he told about his severe cancer illness. At his home ground in Torsby, he has had a square named after him, where a bronze statue of the football profile will also be placed.
