The bodies of Elva people have been found off the coast of Libya, according to Doctors Without Borders (MSF) on X.
The deceased are believed to be migrants, but it is unclear how they ended up in the water.
MSF was alerted to the bodies by the German organization Sea-Watch, which had previously spotted them from an airplane. The bodies were found after a nine-hour search operation.
Libya is an important starting point for migrants trying to make their way from Africa to Europe, with the Italian island of Lampedusa being the nearest European destination.
The journey can be dangerous. According to the UN's migration agency IOM, over 3,000 migrants have been reported missing or dead after attempting to cross the Mediterranean in 2023.
