"Since we are already overwhelmed, we are now appealing to all residents to keep their clothes at home for the time being. The collection risks collapsing and we need to find new solutions with the municipalities," says Lars Råsberg, Assistant Director of Human Bridge, in a press release.
It is the municipalities that are responsible for the collection of clothes and textiles, but it often takes place in collaboration with cooperation partners. Human Bridge collaborates with around 140 municipalities and is the largest in the country.
Despite its size, the organization cannot handle the large quantities being submitted since the law on textile waste came into force at the turn of the year. During the first quarter of the year, they received almost twice as much textiles as during the same period last year.
