The leading stock exchanges in Asia plummeted in early Thursday trading, following fears of further economic tensions between the US and China.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 had fallen by 2 percent by lunchtime, while the broader Topix index had fallen by 0.9 percent.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index had lost 0.3 percent. The composite indices in Shanghai and Shenzhen also looked gloomy, with losses of 0.8 and 1.3 percent, respectively.
