Lynch's film "Wild at heart" was the opening film at the very first edition of the festival in 1990, and in 2003 he returned to Stockholm to receive the honorary award for his lifetime achievement in filmmaking. A special section, "Lynch by Lynch", was also opened to showcase some of his most significant films, such as "Blue Velvet", "Eraserhead", "Lost Highway" and "Mulholland Drive".
This year's festival presents a special program and a retrospective that pays tribute to his filmmaking. There will also be conversations and discussions about his significance for filmmaking.
David Lynch turned 78 years old.
The Stockholm Film Festival takes place on November 5-16.
