The Schools Inspectorate is revoking the permit for Thoren Business School upper secondary school in Växjö. The authority is motivating the decision by stating that there have been serious deficiencies in the education over a long period. These include, among other things, the pupils receiving too little teaching time.
The school would not have continued regardless of the Schools Inspectorate's decision. Thorengruppen has previously announced that it is winding up the operation. The school had 178 pupils during the recently completed academic year.
Several of Thorengruppen's schools around the country have been criticised by the Schools Inspectorate over the years, including for poor quality, and some of the schools have been forced to close.
Following the criticism, new owners and a new board of directors have taken over the independent school chain.
