The Swedish Transport Administration is criticized in the Swedish Accident Investigation Authority's investigation of the train derailment between Iggesund and Hudiksvall in August last year.
"The accident was caused by the Swedish Transport Administration not assessing the risks at a system level and in proactive work, and not taking care of the serious consequences of the extreme rainfall," writes the Accident Investigation Authority in its final report.
The derailment of the SJ train occurred after the track bed was undermined and collapsed. The accident was caused by large amounts of rainfall due to the storm Hans.
"It can also be questioned whether the Swedish Transport Administration's monitoring of ongoing rainfall has been sufficient and whether the use of available support for regional operational management has been done to a sufficient extent," writes the Accident Investigation Authority.
120 passengers were on the train, of whom three were taken to hospital with injuries.
