The Patent and Market Court in Stockholm has convicted a company of trademark infringement in a dispute with Taxi Stockholm, the taxi company writes in a press release.
The smaller company has used signs on its cars that resemble those of Taxi Stockholm, which has misled customers into getting into taxis that imitate the taxi company's trademark, so-called "copycabs". The company is prohibited from using the current signs and must pay approximately 200,000 kronor in damages.
Taxi Stockholm has had problems with "copycabs" for several years.
More or less since the deregulation of the taxi industry (1990, ed. note) was implemented, others have tried to imitate us, since we are the oldest company. We will be 125 years old in January. It is almost impossible for us to stop this, said CEO Pernilla Samuelsson to SVT earlier this year.
In 2022, Taxi Stockholm sued another company for trademark infringement and won, reports SVT. The other company was then convicted to pay six million kronor in damages and change its name.
