Elisabeth Svantesson was on Tuesday in the Finance Committee to talk about the application that the government will decide on Thursday.

To receive the 40 billion kronor Sweden is entitled to from the fund, certain requirements must be met. Among other things, 37 percent of the money must be used for climate transformation.

After the reduction obligation for blending biofuels in petrol and diesel was significantly lowered, the old application needed to be updated.

We agree with the EU Commission that the reduction obligation was right to remove due to it becoming very expensive for people. The fund is about supporting the social and economic consequences after the pandemic, says Svantesson.

Instead, the government is adding two other measures to the application and the accompanying recovery plan. One is the legislation that is underway to speed up environmental assessments and environmental permits. The other measure is the profession program that will come into effect next year and involves an investment in teachers and headmasters.

We fulfill all parts with this and agree with the Commission that these are two good measures to add, says Svantesson.

We hope to start receiving money next year.

The Recovery Fund has been financed by EU countries. Sweden contributed 150 billion kronor.
