A child has been injured by a falling tree on a school yard in the Stockholm area.

The child has been taken to hospital by helicopter, says the police's press spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl to Aftonbladet.

The condition of the child, who is of elementary school age, is not known, but the child was awake when taken to hospital.

It was the wind that caused the tree to fall, writes the police on their website. A report of a work environment crime is being filed.

The alarm about the accident came at 12 o'clock on Tuesday.
