The woman was one of four people who were in the food store in the Geneta district on July 22 when a grenade suddenly was thrown into the store.
She was in the store to shop. The hand grenade bounced off her leg and under the checkout counter where it exploded, says prosecutor Ida Arnell.
The woman suffered serious shrapnel injuries, but if the grenade had not rolled under the counter, the outcome could have been much worse, according to Arnell.
Two days earlier, a residence in Södertälje was subjected to gunfire. People were in the residence, but no one was injured.
Two people, a 27-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, are being prosecuted for involvement in the shooting, which is believed to be linked to the grenade attack. In both cases, the attacks are believed to have been directed against the same family, where one person, according to the prosecutor, has gang criminal connections.
None of the three prosecuted are believed to have had their own motive for carrying out the attacks.
Our understanding is that others are controlling them, says Ida Arnell.
The 17-year-old who is being prosecuted for throwing the hand grenade has confessed, but denies attempted murder and claims that the intention was not to kill anyone.
The other two have completely denied involvement in the shooting on July 20.
The evidence in the case consists, according to the Prosecution Authority, among other things, of information from interrogations, technical investigations, and reviews of phone communications.
