Demirok on suspected C-top: Serious allegations

The C-top Gustav Hemming is leaving with immediate effect, several media outlets report. The reason is a suspicion of crime that has been handed over to the police. "Deeply disturbing and makes me holy damned", writes party leader Muharrem Demirok in a statement to TV4 News.

Hemming is the leader of The Center Party in Region Stockholm and vice chairman of the regional board. He is now leaving his assignment and his responsibility for climate, infrastructure, and archipelago issues.

In a press release, The Center Party writes, according to Expressen, that Hemming has requested to be relieved of all his assignments for the party with immediate effect. According to the party, they have been informed of suspected crime and have handed over the information to the police.

Suspected Sexual Offense

Jonas Naddebo, chairman of C in Stockholm City, tells the newspaper that the party has received information that Hemming appears in a wanted list for suspected sexual offense in Stockholm's public transportation.

It is suspected of sexual harassment of a minor. If these suspicions are true, it is terrible and completely unacceptable. There is nothing that can excuse or mitigate this, says Naddebo to Expressen.

Vice group leader in Region Stockholm, Michaela Haga, will take over the role as group leader until a new one is appointed. It is still unclear who will succeed him as regional councilor.

Police Investigation Important

During the day, Hemming has deleted several of his social media accounts. His information on the party's website has also been removed.

Gustav Hemming has, according to Altinget, represented The Center Party in the leadership of Region Stockholm since 2006.

Party leader Muharrem Demirok made a statement later in the evening.

"These are very serious allegations that both I and the party take extremely seriously. They are deeply disturbing and make me utterly furious. It is extremely important that the police now investigate this fully", he writes in a statement to TV4 News.
