The cannabis was smuggled from Spain in paint cans, burlap sacks, water heaters, and pellet bags – and finally reached addresses in Malmö and Tomelilla in Skåne.
In total, the Customs Authority believes it can link 700 kilos of narcotics to two recipients, who are now being prosecuted in Malmö District Court. One man is suspected of aggravated drug offenses, the other of extremely aggravated drug offenses.
The police became aware of the smuggling operation through the encrypted messaging service Sky ECC.
The case is linked to a previously exposed smuggling of cannabis in a pizza oven. In that case, four people have already been sentenced to long prison terms, writes the Customs Authority in a press release.
