The two boys who were buried under the sand in a landslide in Denmark have died, according to a police press release.
The boys, who were 9 and 12 years old and came from Germany, dug a hole in the sand and then suddenly disappeared. The accident occurred in Thy National Park on Sunday.
According to Danish TV2, it took 40 minutes to dig out the boys from the sand, and when they were found, they were lifeless and their condition was described as critical.
The boys' families express their gratitude through the police for the support and help from the local population and rescue personnel.
According to the rescue leader, around 25 people participated in removing the sand.
Thy National Park is a popular tourist destination known for its beaches and sand dunes.
