First semifinal in "Final Four" was a thriller, the second a show. Barcelona dominated Kiel and is clear for the Champions League final.
Barcelona is already the most successful handball club in history with ten Champions League titles.
Sunday evening can bring the eleventh title.
With the blue-yellow national team duo Jonathan Carlsbogård and Hampus Wanne in the team, Barcelona won the semifinal against Kiel with a crushing 30–18. Carlsbogård was given a lot of trust and scored two goals, while Wanne mostly sat on the bench.
Barça's Danish goalkeeper Emil Nielsen saved almost half of the shots when a strong grip, 15–9, was already tied in the first half. In the final in Cologne, Nielsen will face a bunch of teammates in Ålborg, who surprisingly knocked out the reigning champion Magdeburg (28–26) earlier in the day.
Barcelona and Ålborg have met eleven times in CL history – including the final three years ago – and the Catalans have won every time.
For Niclas Ekberg in Kiel, it means no perfect end to his twelve-year professional career in the club. The right-hander – Swedish EM gold medalist two years ago – will move to Ystads IF in the summer.
