Bangladesh's new government takes seriously the allegations that political minorities have been attacked in the past week. The transitional government, led by Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, says in its first official statement since coming to power that an emergency meeting will be held "to seek ways to put an end to these despicable attacks".
Attacks on Hindus, but also other religious groups and minorities, have been reported in the wake of the political unrest that forced out the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed.
