Despite calmer weather, the avalanche situation is classified as hazardous in the Kebnekaise Mountains and in the Abisko- and Riksgräns Mountains, according to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's website Avalanche Forecasts.
The advice is to avoid slopes that incline more than 30 degrees and the terrain below such slopes.
Unstable snow slabs from the last 24 hours can be set in motion. Moreover, previous snow slabs may be extra sensitive before they have adapted to the weight of the new snow. Large avalanches can, in the worst case, be triggered at a distance from the slope, according to the website.
The avalanche risk is significant, which is a three on the five-grade scale, and implies hazardous conditions.
The warnings are currently in effect until Wednesday at 18.00.
In the other four assessed mountain areas, there is a moderate avalanche risk.
