The man is accused of having leaked classified documents about Israel's plans for revenge attacks against Iran in October.
The man is said to have been arrested on Tuesday and will be brought before a court on Thursday on the US Pacific territory of Guam, writes The New York Times. He will be charged with two crimes against the US espionage laws.
The intelligence agency CIA has, according to the newspaper, not wanted to comment on the arrest.
The information about the leak became public for the first time on October 19. The highly classified documents were then said to have been leaked to a pro-Iranian Telegram channel from a department within the US Department of Defense.
The Israeli attack plans were a response to Iran's extensive attack on October 1, when Tehran fired around 200 drones at Israel. Military bases in Israel are said to have been damaged in the attack.
