The 49-year-old artist and radio host initially suspected that she was suffering from burnout syndrome and was put on sick leave. When the test results came back, it turned out that she had been struck by dementia.

It was the worst news to get, absolutely worst, you just wanted to get out of there, she says to Ttela.

The first symptoms are said to have occurred when she had a blackout as a program leader in a live broadcast on P4 Väst. She is now a pensioner due to illness, but still continues to make music.

For me, it's extremely important to have something that I'm actually good at, so many other things have been taken away from me with this diagnosis, she says to the magazine.

On August 23, Kim Kärnfalk will perform at the Alzheimer Foundation's gala at the Concert Hall in Gothenburg.

The group Friends was formed in 1999 and is known, among other things, for the song "Listen to Your Heart".
