It was 1976 when Sundström got her breakthrough with the relationship novel. It is about Martina and Gustav, two students who try to find the forms for their relationship at a time when many want to abolish the nuclear family. New generations have constantly discovered the book, but herself Gun-Britt Sundström has several times talked about that she is tired of it.
The author was 30 years old and myself I will turn 80 this summer. If you ask me it is a book that does not feel particularly relevant, partly because I am the age I am, when this with relationship trouble is not at the top of the problem list, she says to Kulturnytt.
The book is published by Penguin publishing house and is presented as an anti-relationship novel, which Sundström thinks is a simplification. She says she is however honored that it is now published in English.
