After the Olympic Games exit – the national team captain is fired

After the host nation France was eliminated from the women's OS tournament in football in the quarterfinals against Brazil (0–1), national team coach Hervé Renard is now being fired.

"Coach Hervé Renard has left his position as national team coach for Les Bleues", writes the French football association on social media.

The 55-year-old Renard took over as national team coach in March 2023. Also in the VM last summer, France was eliminated in the quarterfinals – then against the eventual winner Spain.
