The planned wind farm is located in the Gävle Bay within the boundaries of the Gävle municipality. This gives the municipality's politicians the opportunity to exercise their veto power.
The majority government has been divided, where the Christian Democrats have wanted to use the municipal veto and say no, and have sided with The Moderate Party and the Sweden Democrats. The vote in the municipal council resulted in 35-30 and the application can now be sent to the Land and Environment Court.
In total, it involves a maximum of 32 turbines in an area of 36 square kilometers, approximately 15 kilometers from land.
According to Mattias Wärn, CEO of Utposten 2 AB, the wind farm can be operational by 2029/2030.
