After over 50 years on stage, Aerosmith is throwing in the towel.
The American rock band announces that singer Steven Tyler's vocal cord injury will not heal well enough to sustain his voice.
Aerosmith writes in a social media post on Friday evening that they have made the difficult and heart-wrenching decision to retire from touring.
"It has been our life's honor to have our music become a part of yours", the band writes in a statement.
The now cancelled tour "Peace Out… Farewell Tour" was the band's last.
In September last year, just a week after the start of the farewell tour, Steven Tyler was forced to take a break from singing due to a vocal cord injury. After several postponed concerts, the band had planned to perform the remaining shows starting now in September.
