Here, we list a few things that Sweden and Swedes are really good at.

  1. Top in gender equality. Sweden tops the EU list of countries with the best gender equality.
  2. Parental leave. Even though many countries have caught up, Sweden was the first in the world to give both parents paid leave to stay home with their children.
  3. Quality of life. Sweden tops US Newsweek's list of countries with the best quality of life. This includes factors such as food, housing, education, healthcare, job security, political stability, environment, and freedom.
  4. Social justice. Human rights, sense of purpose, environment, and religious freedom - Sweden is also at the top of the list.
  5. Swedes are good at English, ranked 6 among non-English speaking countries. However, Sweden has dropped from 1st to 6th place in just 10 years.
  6. Sweden has low corruption, ranked 6 in the world. However, our neighboring countries do better, with Denmark (1), Finland (2), and Norway (4) ranked higher.

So there you go. Sweden is more than just "lagom" in many areas that are important for citizens' well-being.
