Sweden's Melodifestivalen, whose winner competes in Eurovision, is a real TV success with all the qualifying rounds, but Eurovision Song Contest is also very popular. Last year, 2.3 million Swedes watched the final on TV. There's no indication that the viewer numbers will be lower this year. Even in Europe and the rest of the world, Eurovision is popular, with 163 million people worldwide watching last year's Eurovision.

Sweden has won the Eurovision Song Contest a total of seven times, making the country one of the most successful in the competition's history, along with Ireland. Sweden's wins came in the following years:

  • 1974 (ABBA - "Waterloo")
  • 1984 (Herreys)
  • 1991 (Carola)
  • 1999 (Charlotte Nilsson)
  • 2012 (Loreen - "Euphoria")
  • 2015 (Måns Zelmerlöw - "Heroes")
  • 2023 (Loreen - "Tattoo")

The latest win was in 2023 with Loreen, who became the first artist to win Eurovision twice for Sweden.

Who are the favorites in this year's Eurovision Song Contest 2025?

Sweden, represented by KAJ with the song "Bara bada bastu", is a clear favorite according to both odds and streaming data from Spotify. KAJ has topped the odds charts since March and has around 42% chance of winning according to the largest bookmakers.

The closest challengers according to the odds are: Austria (JJ - "Wasted Love") - 21% chance of winning France (Louane - "Maman") - 9% The Netherlands (Claude - "C'est La Vie") - 5% Finland (Erika Vikman - "Ich Komme") - 4%

It's going to be very exciting to follow Sweden's entry "Bara bada bastu" and we at Sweden Herald are cheering as hard as we can for the group KAJ.
