The number of deaths in Istanbul linked to the consumption of poisoned spirits has risen to 33, reports the state-owned Turkish news agency Anatolia.
Earlier in the week, 23 fatalities were reported.
The cause is believed to be spirits mixed with methanol – an alcohol that is extremely toxic and dangerous compared to the ethanol normally found in spirits.
Four people have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the sale of the spirits.
