The Prison and Probation Service has exceeded 20,000 employees. This is an increase of 5,700 people in less than three years, according to Sveriges Radio P4 Östergötland.
In 2021, the agency had 14,300 employees.
More places in institutions and remand prisons, as well as more probation clients, are some of the explanations for the rapid expansion that is expected to continue in the coming years. Just this year, the Prison and Probation Service has received 150,000 job applications and conducted 17,000 employment interviews.
