Money from Försäkringskassan when you stay home to care for your child instead of working, studying or looking for work. For one child it is paid for 480 days in total, shared between the parents: most days are paid at a level based on your income and the rest at a fixed low level.

You must be insured in Sweden and the child must, as a rule, live here. Days can be taken whole or in parts, spread over several years, and some days are reserved for each parent. Ask your employer for leave in good time as well.

At the birth the other parent can also get ten extra days, separate from parental benefit.
