A doctor is being criticized by Ivo, the Health and Social Care Inspectorate, after a woman died from intestinal obstruction.
The woman sought care for severe stomach pains at the health center in Malå, but was sent home with a diagnosis of urinary tract infection and was prescribed rest and antibiotics, according to Folkbladet.
Two days later, she returned and met with another doctor who sent her to the hospital by ambulance, where intestinal obstruction was diagnosed. Five days later, the woman died.
The Health and Social Care Inspectorate is questioning the first responsible doctor's inadequate examination and diagnosis, and believes that the examination performed did not meet the "requirements for skilled and careful care".
