The leading indexes on the New York Stock Exchange fell on Tuesday. However, the index movements were not large.
The Dow Jones industrial index and the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index both fell 0.1 percent, while the broad S&P 500 index fell 0.2 percent.
It is currently reporting season. For example, the streaming company Spotify was able to show fine quarterly figures and the share price surged 12 percent.
The freight giant UPS's report, on the other hand, did not live up to the analysts' expectations and the share price plummeted 12.1 percent.
Investors are now waiting for the interim reports from two of Wall Street's giants, Google's parent company Alphabet and the electric car manufacturer Tesla. Alphabet rose 0.1 percent, while Tesla fell 2 percent.
