Parts of Volvo in Torslanda were evacuated on Wednesday morning after an alarm about a hazardous substance leak.
The police and rescue services were called to the site to investigate the incident. Just before lunchtime, Volvo announced that there was no leak.
This was a small area in the bodywork factory, affecting 40-50 people. We took the safe option and chose to evacuate. There was no leak. By 10:20 am, the staff were back at work, says Volvo Cars' press chief Magnus Holst to Göteborgs-Posten.
According to the police, the alarm was triggered by employees on site perceiving some kind of smell. A report of a workplace accident has been filed.
