Växjö municipality has decided to freeze payments to Växjö Islamic school and the preschool owned by the same foundation.
The decision was made after an investigation by Aftonbladet which showed that the preschool had received money for twelve children who were not actually there. Shortcomings within the school were also revealed. It is currently being investigated by both the School Inspection and the municipality itself.
"Since the information is very serious, the committee wants to freeze the payment of child and student grants until the investigation is complete", says Julia Berg (S), chairman of the education committee, in a press release.
