Västerås broke Villa-Lidköping's winning streak – won the National Championship final

Shame on those who give up, as the saying goes. After three final losses in four years against Villa-Lidköping, Västerås finally stood as winners on the women's side, after 7–3 in the bandy SM-final. It's so damn magnificent, says Västerås' Tova Grönoset in SVT.

Västerås and Villa-Lidköping have for several years been the two big giants on the women's side in bandy. In three of the four latest finals, the teams have faced each other.

And every time, it's the Västergötland team that has taken it home. But not this time.

Västerås broke Villa-Lidköping's winning streak, and won the final on home ground with 7–3.

But it was a close call.

The teams followed each other closely for a long time, and until minute 54, it was still a tie.

But then the green and whites shifted gears.

"The sickest thing I've experienced"

Three straight goals in just over a quarter of an hour were enough to secure the club's first gold on the women's side since 2020, after three straight final losses.

We're such a damn nice group. We're so cohesive and everyone works towards the same goal all season. It's the sickest thing I've experienced. I'm so happy, says Tova Grönoset.

And it wasn't necessarily the most experienced players who stepped forward. One of Västerås' goal scorers, Hilda Kolsmyr, was part of the team that won the F17 gold with Västerås just the day before.

We did it, after all! What a damn match. And it's our "youngsters" who are the best, it's so damn powerful, continues Grönoset.

Hattrick hero: "Longed for it for ages"

But the biggest star of all was Edit Ljung, who with her concluding 7–3 goal completed her hattrick.

I've longed for this for ages, we fight like hell for each other. If I can contribute in that way (with goals), I'm super happy. As long as we get to do this together, says Ljung.
