At the close, the three leading American stock indexes pointed downwards.
The S&P 500 index fell 1.2 percent and is now back at approximately the same level as when Donald Trump won the presidential election in early November.
The technology-heavy Nasdaq index retreated 0.4 percent, while the Dow Jones industrial index retreated 1.6 percent.
On Monday, US stock exchanges fell around 2 percent.
Among stocks that continued to stand out was once again Tesla. The electric car giant's share retreated 4.4 percent.
